Ravenden Springs, AR...

Kay and Carol - 2010

There was a drop off of rock about 5 feet high across the creek above the pool that you mention. Even before your time, grandpa had built steps to get around it. Past that there was what we called "the elephants den". It was a recess in the cliff. A little farther there was what was called "the needles eye". It was a crack up thru the canyon wall you could climb out on top of the canyon. Then there was the cave up on the wall that was called "the Ravens den". They say at one time Ravens roosted in it. I don't know.

There was a rock that was the same height as the canyon wall. It was called the "lone rock." It was about 7 feet by 10 feet in size and stood about 8 feet from the canyon wall. It must have moved because mother said when she was a girl boys would jump out on it.

Continue on down the canyon and it flattens out into farm land and the creek continues on and runs into Janes Creek.
